교수님, 저도 제가 만들고픈 영화가 있어요

대학교의 영화시나리오를 쓰는 수업시간, 필리핀에서 온 셀리나의 시나리오에서 자신의 이야기가 빠졌다고 다그치던 여교수는, 동남아에서 와 한국에서 차별받으며 겪었던 일을 소재로 시나리오를 써야 진정성이 있다고, 셀리나 자신의 이야기를 쓰라고 얘기한다. 쉬는시간동안 생각한 “절절함”이 담긴 시나리오를 교수에게 얘기하는 셀리나. 둘 사이에서 무슨 일이 벌어지고 있는 것일까? (강희진)

In a university class where they are learning about film scripts and scenarios, the female professor grills Selina from the Philippines for not writing a story that is based on her own experiences. She asserts that she should write about her experiences in discrimination as someone from Southeast Asia and to write her own story. During the break, Selina talks frankly about her scenario to the professor. Just what is going on between these two? (Jude Kang)

몽골의 사막화 방지 프로젝트는 과연 그들을 위해 이루어지고 있는가?

더 좋은 세상을 만들고자, 사막화를 막기위해 몽골에 가서 나무를 심었던 감독은, 순수한 기쁨으로 했던 선의의 행동과는 다른 몽골의 현실에 죄책감을 느끼고, 한국에 돌아와 몽골의 가족이 잘못되는 악몽을 꾸는등 괴로워한다. 봉사자로서 느낀 뜻 모를 죄책감의 이유를, 자신을 보내주었던 NGO 본사에서 얻을수 있지 않을까 찾아갔던 감독은 더 큰 괴리감을 느끼고. 자신의 의문에 대한 답을 얻고자 다시 한번, 직접 비행기에 오른다. (강희진)

The director goes to Mongolia to lend her hand in the effort to stop desertification to make a better world. However, despite her pure intentions, she comes back with a guilty conscience at the real plight of the Mongolian people. She suffers from nightmares after coming back in the fear that some harm has come to her host family in Mongolia. In her attempt to appease her conscience, she finds her way to the NGO who had sent her to Mongolia in the first place to find some answers only to find more questions instead of answers. Ultimately, she puts herself on a flight to Mongolia once more in her quest. (Jude Kang)

서강대학교 신문방송학과에서 다큐멘터리를 전공하고 있다. 단편 ‘The Labeled’, 실험영상 ‘If I'm on TV’, 다큐멘터리 ‘And then there were none’ 등을 연출하였고, 개인적 경험을 기반으로 ‘엄마, 그곳에 천사는 없었어요’라는 자전적 다큐멘터리를 만들었다. 작품은 2013 청년감독 육성프로젝트 ‘당신이 우리의 내일이다’의 제작지원을 받아 만들어졌다.

도데체 슬기는 나를 좋아하고 있는 걸까?

알듯말듯. 혹은 아는듯모르는듯. 그렇게 줄타기를 하는 두 남녀의 모습에서 서로 다른 그림을 볼수 있다. 좋아하는 티가 팍팍 나는 덕진과 달리 슬기의 행동은 아리송하다.덕진이 좋아한다는것을 슬기는 알고 그러는걸까? 정말 몰라서 그러는걸까? 라고 궁금해질쯤 새로 등장하는 용진에 의해 달라지는 두사람,혹은 세사람의 관계. 불안한 연애,썸을 타고 밀당을 해야만 하는 요즘 20대 남녀의 관계를 사실적으로 드러낸, 누군가에게는 코미디일수도, 누군가에게는 멜로일수도 있는 연애드라마. 우리 그린라이트 일까? ㅈㄱㅇㄴ이 무슨 뜻인지 아직 모르는 그대라면 이 영화, 꼭 보길 바란다. To know or not to know. Do I know or don't I know? The relationship between the woman and the man is like walking on a tight rope and viewed in such a contrastive way. Deokjin who is obviously wearing his heart on his sleeve for Eunkyo is a direct contrast to Eunkyo who is really ambiguous in her attitude to say the least. Does Eunkyo really know that Deokjin likes her and is behaving accordingly? Or is she simply oblivious? At the time where the audience is left dangling, Yongjin appears in the picture and the whole dynamic of their relationship changes drastically. This twosome, or a threesome romantic relationship realistically portrays what may be the current situation of men and women in their 20's now. It may be a comedy of errors or a soap opera. If you want to find out what TFB really stands for, then go ahead and watch the film. (Jude Kang)

엄마와 딸! 우리 뒤 바뀐거 아닌가요?

카드 수수료가 부담될법한 자그마한 미용실을 운영하는 엄마와 그런 엄마의 모습을 화면에담으려는 딸. 가게운영에 허덕이면서도 단골고객 혹은 사람에 대한 서비스와 배려를 보이는 엄마를, 계산적인 사회를 살아가야하는 딸은 도통 이해할수 없다. 무슨 생각으로 사는것인지 엄마의 대답을 듣고자 진지하게 대화좀 하자는 딸과, 그러거나 말거나 심드렁하게 대답하는 엄마의 모습은 어딘가 엄마와 딸의 역할이 뒤바뀐듯한 착각마저 든다. 시종일관 장난끼 가득한 엄마의 가위는 어쩌면 인간에 대한 사랑을 다듬고 있는게 아닐까 싶은, 인간미 가득한 엄마와 딸의, 세상 살아가는 방법에 대한 난상토론이 벌어지는 곳은 다름 아닌 미용실. A mother who runs a tiny hair salon that seems to be struggling even to pay the credit card fees and a daughter who is trying to depict her mother on film. The daughter who is smart enough to live in this harsh and calculative world is unable to understand her mother who is altruistic enough to provide free service and consideration to her regulars even while the finances of the hair salon is going downhill. The daughter is hankering after her mother to have a serious conversation about the facts of life while her mother seems blithely oblivious to the realities of life. It even seems that their roles are reversed. All this is happening in Jeonyeong Venus, the hair salon where the mother's playful snipping perhaps is embracing the whole humankind in her magnanimous attitude while the daughter is trying to drum some sense into her.
