동시대의 한국 사회가 이전과 비교해 가장 급진적으로 달라진 것은 아이를 낳는 것만큼 아이를 낳지 않는 것 역시 가능 한 선택이 되었다는 것이다. 다양한 가족형태의 상상력이 가능해졌기 때문이라기 보다 육아에 대한 경제적, 심리적 공 포가 팽배해졌기 때문이다. 영화 속에서의 동생이 걱정된다면 결혼을 하지 않았다 라는 사실보다 아이 낳고 기르기의 무시무시함을 잘 모르는 것 같아서일 것이다. 하지만 이 아이 낳고 기르기는 가족 모두가 이전과 다른 성숙하고 조화로 운 관계 맺기를 시작하는 계기가 된다. 싱글맘 이야기는 한국사와 가부장적 가족의 트라우마를 치유해 나가는 과정이 된다. 가부장적 아버지 역할과 지위에 매달렸던 아버지는 아버지대로, 지난 한국 현대사와 관련된 가족사에 대한 엄청 난 책임감과 상처를 가졌던 어머니는 어머니대로, 자신의 불행이 너무 커서 주변 사람들은 눈에 잘 들어 오지 않았던 동 생은 동생대로 상처를 내 보이고 치유하고 서로를 다독인다. The most progressive change in occurring in contemporary Korean society is that not having a child has become a choice that is just as possible as the choice to have a child. This is not because various types of families are envisioned, but rather because an economic, psychological fear about childcare is overflowing in Korean society. If you worry about the sister in the film, it is not because of the truth that she did not marry, but rather it is because she may not know how horrible it is to bear and raise a child. However, this process of bearing and raising a child becomes an opportunity to initiate a harmonious and mature relationship between family members that is unlike the relationship that existed before. A single mother story becomes a healing process for a patriarchal family trauma and the history of Korea. A father who has been suspended from the patriarchal father role and position; a mother who feels a huge burden due to a family history that is related to the history of modern Korea, and hurts from it; and the sister who didn’t care about other ones’ emotional injuries due to her own massive wound–they each show their own pain, and heal and pat one another. <감독> 박문칠
1978년생 캐나다 토론토 출생. 미학 전공. 단편극영화 작업 및 독립영화 스텝을 해오다가, 다큐멘터리에 흥미를 느껴 한국예술종합학교 방송영상과 전문사 과정에 입학하여 현재 다큐멘터리를 공부하고 있다. 2006년부터 촬영하기 시작한 가족의 이야기를 첫 장편 다큐멘터리로 완성했다.

Emmanuel Moonchil PARK was born in Toronto and migrated to South Korea with family when he was 11 years old. After making short films and doing staff work for independent film productions, got interested in documentaries, and is now doing an MFA program in documentary production at Korean National School of Arts. My Place , which he started filming since 2006, is his first feature length documentary.

김태용 감독과 공효진, 박희순의 계약연애 로맨틱 코미디 비틀기. 공효진의 존재감이 놀랍다. 저 멀리 착륙하는 비행기가 보이는 제주공항의 주차장. 철수가 사슴이 실려 있는 트럭 옆에 서서 누군가를 기다린다. 잠시 후, 야자나무 사이에서 영희가 나타난다. 철수는 봉투 한 장을 꺼내고, 영희는 능숙한 손놀림으로 돈을 세어 본 후 약속했던 금액의 절반 밖에 되지 않는다고 이야기 한다.
The parking lot of Jeju Airport with a plane landing in the distance. A man (Cheol-su) is standing next to a truck with deer loaded on it, waiting for someone. A short while later, a woman (Young-hee) appears from between some palm trees. The two recognize each other without saying a word and approach. Cheol-su takes out an envelope. Young-hee deftly counts the money and says that it is only half the agreed amount.

대학에서 정치외교학을 전공하고 한국영화아카데미에서 영화연출을 공부했다. <가족의 탄생>(2006)은 독특한 이야기 구조로 관객들에게 깊은 인상을 남기며 다수의 영화제에서 수상하였다. 언어의 장벽을 넘어 서로에게 마음을 여는 두 사람 사이의 미묘함을 그려낸 <만추>(2011)는 아름다운 작품이라는 호평을 받으며 국내외 영화제에서 감독상을 수상했다.
