 분명 연주의 하루는 고되다. 몸이 불편한 아버지를 챙기고 나와서 전단지를 나눠주고, 취업 면접도 보러
다니면서, 콜센터에서 일하는 그녀. 세상의 소음을 차단하고 잠시 숨을 돌릴까 낮잠을 청하지만, 그마저도
쉽지 않다. 어느덧 세상의 소음에서 멀어진 그녀가 편히 잠을 청할 수 있을 때, 같이 한숨 돌려본다.

Yeonju’s day is long and hard. The first thing she does in the morning is to take care of her sick
father, then she distributes brochures, goes around doing job interviews, and then works at a call
center. She would love to shut out the world and take a rest for a while but that’s not as easy as
it sounds. When she does get away from it all, we all synonymously breathe a deep sigh of relief.

7포세대의 젊은이들 사이에 끼어 70만원 용돈을 받으며 살다보니, 감독은 어느새 ‘나만 편해도 괜찮은 걸까?’라는 이유모를 죄책감이 생겼다. ‘경제적 활동을 하면 죄책감은 덜어질까?’ 에서 출발한 질문은 어느새 ‘아빠가 죽으면 나는 어떡해야하나?’라는 솔직한 질문으로 이어진다. 죄책감은 그만, 젊은이들이여 좀 더 당당해져도 괜찮다! (강희진)

 

 

The director cum main protagonist receives a monthly allowance of 700 thousand won amidst thousands of other fellow 20 somethings who have no jobs, no dreams and no prospects. As such, she develops a sense of guilty conscience. She begins to question her situation with the idea that perhaps her guilty conscience would be relieved if she did take upon some financial activity. The question soon turns into an honest look into herself as to what she will do if her father (financial backer) were to die. (Jude Kang)

지지대를 대기엔 아직은 작은 텃밭의 식물, 강아지 코코, 그리고 감독 자신은 어딘지 모르게 많이 닮아있다. 시선은 강아지 코코로부터 출발해서 원하는 대로 다뤄질수 없고, 사랑받을수 없고 거부할수 없는 존재들을 찾아나서며 자신과 가족의 모습을 되돌아보게 된다. (강희진)

 

The baby plants of a vegetable garden, Coco the puppy, and the director are somehow similar in
many ways. The camera starts from following the puppy then moving on to all other entities who
cannot be quite controlled, cannot be loved but also cannot be denied. All these brings us back

전성연 / Sung-yeon Jeon

1990년 출생. 이화여자대학교에서 사회학과와 여성학과를 졸업하고, 한국예술종합학교 영상원 방송영상과 다큐멘터리 전공 전문사에 재학 중이다. <이 시대의 사랑>은 감독의 두 번째 연출작이며, 첫 번째 연출작인 <아저씨>(2013)는 인디다큐페스티발 2014에서 상영된 바 있다.

조그만 단칸방에 사는 ‘아라’. 자신을 마케터라고 소개하며 일상에서 발견한 단상들에 대한 생각을 조곤조곤 풀어낸다. 도시는 그녀가 싫어하는 것과 좋아하는 것들로 가득 찬, 거부할 수없는 매력이 가득한 곳이기도 하다. 일하러 가는 길도 괜찮지만, 집에 돌아오는 길의 풍경이 담긴 그녀의 겨울은 포근하다. (강희진)

  

 

‘Ara’ lives in a small studio room and introduces herself as a marketer. She starts talking about little knick knacks that can be discovered in our lives and her thoughts about them. The city that she lives in is full of everything that she likes and dislikes and filled with tantalizing attractions. The way to go to work is fine but the way back home is filled with warmth and ah! a sigh of complacent cozy satisfaction. (Jude Kang)
