입양기관에서 일하는 소연은 인터넷으로 주문한 딸을 위한 드레스의 색깔이 생각했던 것과 일치하지 않자 강하게 항의하는 와중에 예전에 아이를 입양시켰던 양부모로부터 아이에 대한 격렬한 반감과 함께 파양을 통보받고 깊이 갈등한다. 우리 시대가 현재 직면하고 있는 입양제도의 문제점들을 인터넷에서 구입한 물건을 반품하는 과정과 묘하게 맞물리게 하면서 그려내는 감독의 의도가 흥미롭게 펼쳐진다. (한진이)

 

Soyeon works at a government public agency trying hard to become a tenured worker. She tries to convince a couple not to send their adopted child back while trying to return a dress which she had ordered over the internet for her daughter because it was not the exact color that she wanted. The emotions and conflict of the people wanting to return a 'product' that they don't want provokes and prods the audience into a new way of thinking. (J. Hahn)

일본으로 돈을 벌러 간 엄마 없이 술로만 날을 보내는 아버지 밑에서 사는 아이의 삶은 고달프기만 하다. 그러다 아이 눈에 띈 근처 중국집에서 힘겹게 일하는 조선족 아줌마에게 막연한 그리움을 느낀 아이는 부재중인 엄마에게 몽니를 부리듯이 계속 장난을 친다. 조선족 아줌마 역시 중국에 사랑하는 아들을 두고나온 터에 짓궂은 장난을 계속 치는 아이가 살갑게 느껴진다. 가족과 어쩔 수 없이 떨어져 살아야만 하는 아픔을 서로 위로하고 치유하는 과정이 관객들로 하여금 가슴 뭉클함과 동시에 미소 짓게 만든다. (한진이)

 

The life of a boy whose father drinks everyday and a mother who is a away in Japan to earn money cannot help but be hard. A Chinese Korean woman who is working at a nearby Chinese restaurant catches his eye and drawn to her subconsciously, he continues to bother her. Through several encounters, they manage to find solace in each other ultimately leading to a poignant culmination. (J. HAHN)

고3 여름방학! 부모 몰래 락페스티벌을 향한 두 소녀의 설레임과 두려움 그리고 뭔지 모를 둘 사이의 긴장이 이 짧은 여행을 보는 관람객들을 몰입하게 만든다. 락 페스티벌! 입시의 압박에서 해방되고 싶은 마음을 아주 시원하게 풀어낼 수 있는 기회로 삼아 시작된 ‘결행’이 여러 가지 사건들과 엮이며 꼬이는 상황이 발생하는데... 자유와 열정 그리고 성정체성에 대한 소녀 성장의 모습이 약간은 수줍게 담겨있는 영화! (안혜경)

 

Yuna and Hyeyoon decide to go to a rock festival in Incheon. They sneak out unbeknownst to their parents. Trouble ensues when they realize that the rock band that they wanted to see is not performing until the next day. They manage to escape being picked up by a group of boys and through the kindness of a foreign woman who lets them stay over at her house, all seems to be smooth sailing at first. However, trouble arises when they lose the tickets to the rock concert and are on the verge of having to decide whether they can go to the rock concert or not. (J. HAHN)

어려서 놀이로 시작된 만큼 해녀들에게 물질은 재미와 보람을 다 안겨주는 직업이라는 걸 다큐멘터리 형식의 애니메이션으로 보여준다. 물질은 ‘저승길에 돈벌러 가는 일’이 될 만큼 늘 위험이 따른다. 그래서 용왕님께 굿을 통해 죽음에 대한 두려움을 털어내야 한다는 강두교 해녀는 78세이다. 제주 해녀의 일생을 5분의 애니메이션에 이미지와 음성 그리고 음향으로 농축시켜 따뜻한 시선으로 잘 드러낸다. (안혜경)

 

The diving work of the haenyeo began as play for most Jeju women in the past. This animated short documentary successfully conveys to us that this diving work was both a source of entertainment and labor work simultaneously. However, it also highlights the fact that this diving work was 'a highway to hell' kind of work with danger lurking at every corner. The protagonist in this animated short is a 78 year old haenyeo named Kang Du-kyo. The animation, voice and images of this amazing woman are condensed delightfully into a 5 minute odyssey. (J. 학교 선후배 사이로, 영화제에서 우연히 만나 뜻이 맞아 공동 작업을 했다. 한국의 강인한 여성인 해녀를 소재로 공동 졸업 작품을 제작하였다. <토끼와 거북이라고 말해도 모르잖아> (2010), <사공이 많으니까>(2011)등을 공동 연출하였다.

These directors went to the same school and decided to collaborate together through a chance meeting at a film festival. They have decided to create a graduation project together with the theme of the strong image of the Jeju haenyeo.

They have also collaborated together with <They won't know even if we tell them it is the Tortoise and the Rabbit> (2010) and <Too many cooks spoil the broth> (2011).
